Hi friends!  And welcome to Base Camp: Savannah!

When I launched this program in the summer of 2015, I had no idea the impact it would make on a region that I love so dearly.

In the past 12 months, I was blessed to be able to cast background (and in some cases, "principals") on MAGIC MIKE XXL, DIRTY GRANDPA, CHRISTINE, THE DO OVER and THE DETOUR.

From those experiences, I've discovered some incredible talent and we MUST continue to develop that talent as so much work is hitting Savannah.  As I've said many times before, Savannah is currently the cat bird seat.  It's an incredibly small market - but a lot of major work coming to the area.  BE PREPARED.  BE READY TO PLAY.

It's inspiring to me to see so many people who started as extras with me on MAGIC MIKE XXL literally two years ago today - booking co-star roles on shows.

Since that time, I've been fortunate to cast many of our locals on the Savannah filmed feature: COUP D'ETAT, LIZZIE, BEAST OF BURDEN, THE DIVORCE PARTY, AN LA MINUTE and MISFORTUNE.

YOU CREATE YOUR OWN OPPORTUNITES.  YOU.  AND ONLY YOU.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

SATURDAY, FEB 25th:
SO YOU WANNA BE AN ACTOR?
Taught by Chad Darnell
9 AM - 5 PM
Cost: $85

Over the past few years, Savannah has built a steady market of working talent for productions to use for local filming.  But we need more!

SATURDAY 9AM -1 PM:  THE BASICS OF BUSINESS 101
So many films and television shows are eyeing our beautiful Savannah, but how do you get STARTED or how do you get noticed?

Open to anyone (newbies or anyone wanting a refresher!)  at any level of acting, ages 15 and older.
Highlights of the workshop include:

  • "So you want to be an actor..."
  • Background Work (getting started from the ground up)
  • "How Do I Get an Agent?"
  • Headshot and Resume Evaluation (What goes ON a resume!?  What SHOULD your pics look like?!)
  • Branding Yourself with Social Media
  • CLASSES, CLASSES, and CLASSES
  • Networking
  • Brief discussion of Self-taping Auditions
  • Auditioning in the Room and Other Things That Get You Dead
  • How to Be a Working Actor in the South
  • SAG-AFTRA

After lunch, we go deeper with "sides" (scenes from the script) given out in advance.  Every audition is different.  Some are improvised.  Some are scripted.  Some are pages of dialogue and some are just one line.  Each experience in class will be different for each actor.
"Attacking the material" - Script evaluation.  What do they want?!

Self tape audition evaluation (material provided in advance.  Taping to happen prior to class.)

Cold reading from script (provided the day before).

This afternoon work is meant for you to step outside your comfort level and grow with constructive criticisim.

To register, email BaseCampSavannah@gmail.com and we will be in touch soon!
